My paintings focus on the intense power of invisible forces with special regard to a critique of American culture: the weight and struggle of holding ideals, cultural forces, political power, shame. My works force these invisible forces into view by representing them with symbols, such as a fractured blue sky, as a stand-in for idealistic views wracked by the pain of disillusionment.
